One of the many things I love about social media is making so many new friends with exactly the same interests that I have. Case in point, I was vacationing in Cannes last week with my girlfriend Barbara and a Cannes blogger I follow emailed me saying, “Meet me in Forville Market under the clock at 11 am.” Cool. So we did. Here we are meeting for the very first time. Helene’s first suggestion was to show us around the market.
So, we strolled and took pix as food bloggers do, and we then decided to go for a glass of rose. Helene and her husband Philipe told us they were taking us in the car up to see the village I lived in for so many years — and miss! But first a walk inside a store….
Ok, now we are ready, after food and wine, to hop in the car and travel up about 40 minutes to my village of Bar sur Loup. Did I tell you my new cookbook about the style of cooking in this region is just now up on Amazon.com?????? So excited! And I put in a recipe from the 1 star restaurant in the village…..
This is Philipe and la belle Hellene….my new best friends….they were increditble….taking us everywhere …..giving us dinner at home…I would have never met them if it wasn’t for the internet and social networking…….you have to go see Helene’s blog, it is amazing and so interesting because she has such in depth knowledge of architecture, history, design, and cooking…here is the link: http://www.questcequonmange.blogspot.com
Here we are in my village, Bar sur Loup, looking out at the Gorges du Loup…..
…..and have coffee at the outdoor cafe in the village square…life is good!!!
…..That night, Helene asked us back to her apartment for dinner….a truly amazing dinner!!
Here is the menu!
Wow. Fresh vegetables from the market, lots of choices for apero, and fresh strawberries tiramisu for dessert. We had so much fun we hated to leave. Did I mention there was an amazing orange moon that we could view from their terrace?
